Kelp has been used for hundreds, if not thousands of years, to feed crops, animals, and humans. These simple uses have withstood the test of time, but with today’s knowledge and technology, even more uses for kelp are being uncovered.
Biostimulant
Stimplus+ is a seaweed biostimulant made from 100% Giant Kelp (Macrocystis Pirifera).
Biostimulant helps crops cope with climatic stresses, increases productivity, restores soil health, and increases crop nutritional content.
Fucoidan
Fucoidan is abundantly found in kelp and is a source of prebiotics. It also has many antioxidant, anticancer, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial properties.
It has beneficial physiological and biological properties for humans and animals.
We are nearing finalisation of a cleaner extraction method using fewer chemicals, increasing high- and low-molecular-weight fucoidan
Animal Feed
The fatty acids, fucoidans, and carbohydrates found in kelp pulp contribute to gut health in ruminants, fish, and chickens.
Alginates
Alginates are polysaccharides only found in brown seaweed. Up to 40% of the dry weight of macrocystis are alginates.
Alginates can be used as high-quality food thickeners, biofilms, and bio-packaging as a more sustainable resource.
Alginates have antimicrobial properties, are highly viscous in aqueous solutions (texturizing), and are biodegradable and biocompatible.
